How to tell if honeydew has gone bad
- Soft, sunken patches anywhere on the rind
- A sticky or weeping blossom end
- A sharp fermented smell instead of a honeyed one
- Flesh gone grayish and watery rather than pale green and firm
When in doubt, throw it out.
Cut melon lives in the fridge in a covered tub — the rind was the only part that was ever counter-safe.
