How to tell if honeydew has gone bad

  • Soft, sunken patches anywhere on the rind
  • A sticky or weeping blossom end
  • A sharp fermented smell instead of a honeyed one
  • Flesh gone grayish and watery rather than pale green and firm

When in doubt, throw it out.
